Dental Bridges Can Complete Your Smile

Are you struggling to hide the gaps in your smile or the appearance of decaying or damaged teeth? Dr. Joan Kirschner's dental bridge can complete your smile, improve your oral health, and boost your confidence in just a few dental appointments. Whether used to strengthen damaged teeth or restore dental implants, the dental bridges we use at our New Hampshire office can give you a second chance at the smile you deserve. A dental bridge is made up of at least one pontic (artificial tooth) and two crowns that are anchored to the teeth surrounding a gap. Contact Plymouth General Dentistry today to learn more.

Understanding the Procedure

As with any of the treatments we perform at Plymouth General Dentistry, your dental bridges procedure will begin with a comprehensive examination and detailed consultation. Guided by your goals and expectations, Dr. Kirschner will create treatment plan that addresses each of your oral health needs. If dental bridges are included in this plan, we will schedule your first treatment appointment.

On the day of your treatment, we will first be sure that you feel comfortable in our office. Headphones, relaxing music, and large-screen televisions will help you feel at home. Additionally, anesthetic and minimal sedation will make you feel relaxed, ensuring a stress-free experience. During this first of two appointments, the existing teeth used to anchor your dental bridge will be prepared by removing a very small amount of enamel to make room for the bridge. A highly detailed impression of your bite will be made and sent off to our dental laboratory. Dr. Kirschner has trusted her lab for many years and stands behind the quality of their work. In a week or two when your bridge has been fabricated and sent back to our office, we will schedule your second treatment appointment.

The final step in the dental bridges procedure is to cement the restoration to your prepared teeth. After a thorough cleaning, the surface of your prepared teeth will be lightly buffed to improve the bond. Using high quality cement and a special light used to seal the bond more quickly, Dr. Kirschner will place your bridge.

Dental bridges can also be used to restore dental implants. In these cases, Dr. Kirschner places the restoration once the implant and bone have properly fused in a process known as osseointegration.
